Gaming has always been an outlet for me. Along with writing, it has been a way for me to be a part of a community outside of work and everyday that allows me to explore the depths of my imagination and creation.
The introduction to the PC happened at school in the 4th grade and at home, my first gaming console was the first Nintendo. As the eldest child of 4 siblings, Duck Hunter and Mario games held us until the release of the Sega Genesis. Sonic the Hedgehog and Madden became the best part of our days. Then came our first Sony Playstation. Endless hours were enjoyed with Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon and Bust a Groove to name a few. It wasn’t long until we stumbled curiously upon “SimCity2000” and after countless city disasters, didn’t know what was about to be discovered.
We evolved into the Playstation 2…where our love for “The Sims” franchise really took off. I was only briefly introduced to actual sims at a visit to my cousin’s house. She had a PC and explained the joys of “The Sims Online”. Obsessed with the idea of a life simulation game led me to “The Sims”. Not long after moving out of “moms” house, upgrading my abode and moving into the landgrabb mansion…I already found myself in “The Sims 2”, “Sims Bustin’ Out”, and the beloved “The Urbz: Sims in the city”.
I purchased my first laptop my freshman year of college and was gifted the entire Sims 1 and 2 collection. It was love at first play and as an avid fan patiently awaited “The Sims 3”. After reorganizing life priorities, I found myself on hiatus from the sims and had been a veteran World of Warcraft and Grand Theft Auto player throughout my college years and only recently rediscovered my love for Sims. After the announcement and release of “The Sims 4”, I hopped back on the bandwagon and jumped onto social media to share my love once again for the franchise. It was a whole new world and way to enjoy the game I loved playing so much. I’m still in shock by the creativity and community that surrounds the game and decided to combine my love for writing and playing the sims. I look forward to continue creating content, collaborations and developing ideas that share my love for the The Sims!
I’m active on Twitter @J2JPlays for #TheSims4, #Simcity, #Simscenes, builds, fan made challenges and the development of “SimShorts” is underway on my blog. I happily balance World of Warcraft, Grand Theft Auto and The Sims 4 while working a full time job at a 24 hour referral animal hospital and per diem job at a small animal clinic in NYC. I game with my husband and will always be a gamer at heart!
For the love of games!
